Plants are living organism that absorb nutrients from their surroundings. Most plants use a process to convert light energy captured from the sun into chemical energy that can be used to fuel the organism's activities. Carbon dioxide and water are absorbed to synthesize carbohydrates such as sugars, hence the name photosynthesis, from the Greek φώτο- [photo-], "light," and σύνθεσις [synthesis], "putting together". As a waste product Oxygen is released. Plants have a variety of uses including culinary, medicinal, and in some cases spiritual usage. The purpose of this website started with a focus on a plant based diet and along with it came the more detailed research of botanical medicine. Enjoy my virtual herbal meadow.
